Responsibilities / Tasks
GEA Group, located in York, PA, is searching for our next Intern Welder to join our Production Team!
The Intern Welder performs production work according to customer requirements, including welding and basic assembly operations, within a Lean Six Sigma environment. This person will learn to fabricate, assemble, and weld components for Standard Vessels, Heat Exchangers, and Standard Compressor Packages to meet required specifications and budgets.
The hours for the internship can be flexible, with a minimum expectation of 20 hours/week. Our facility operates Monday - Thursday from 6am - 4pm, so any hours can be worked during that timeframe.
Responsibilities:
Standard Vessels and Heat Exchangers
  • Performs all operations in the manufacture of standard separators, receivers, and heat exchangers to required specifications and budgets
    1. Assembles and welds sub assembly parts
    2. Installs parts
    3. Welds internal and external parts
    4. Installs heads and sub arc
    5. Sub arc wrappers
    6. Assembles and welds supports, legs and angles
    7. Assembles and welds water boxes
  • Assist in training less experienced employees
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Standard Compressor Packages
  • Performs all operations in the manufacture of standard compressor packages to required specifications and budgets.
    1. Assembles and welds sub assembly parts
    2. Installs package components
    3. Assembles weld and installs system piping
  • Assist in training less experienced employees
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Your Profile / Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in Welding program
  • Basic math skills
  • Basic blueprint reading
  • Basic fabrication skills
  • Comprehension of safety rules
  • Sit, stand, reach, walk for periods of time on concrete surface.
  • Ability to lift / carry 50 lbs.
  • Sufficient hand, arm and finger dexterity to operate tools and or machinery
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team oriented, Lean Six Sigma environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

The typical base pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $19.00 - $20.00 per hour. GEA Group has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States.
The pay range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. The estimated range is the budgeted amount for the position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. You may be eligible for additional rewards, such as discretionary bonus (based on eligibility) and/or equity awards.
