Job description

NOW HIRING: Park Maintenance - Part Time
JOB SUMMARY: The Park Maintenance employee is responsible for performing general park and facilities maintenance and cleanup. This includes mowing, as well as custodial and athletic field maintenance. The position is also responsible for snow removal, routine tasks in general maintenance, and projects.
LOCATION: Tinley Park-Park District, Parks Department Maintenance Garage, 16801 S. 80th Ave.
QUALIFICATIONS: The qualified individual should be well motivated, reliable and organized, possessing good decision making and leadership skills. Basic knowledge of hand tools and small machinery a plus. Must be willing to work in various weather conditions and pass pre-employment physical and drug screening. The qualified individual must hold a valid, clean driver's license at all times. CPR certification is required and must be obtained within six (6) months of hire. Certification must be maintained throughout employment.
The current schedule for this year round, part-time position is as follows:
Fall/Winter Schedule, September 1st through March 31st (approx. 24 hours/week)
  • Two (2) weekdays (7:30am - 3:30pm with an hour unpaid lunch break)
  • Two (2) weekend days (7am - noon)

Spring Schedule, April 1st through May 31st (approx. 29 hours/week)
  • Three (3) weekdays (7:30am - 3:30pm with an hour unpaid lunch break)
  • Two (2) weekend days (7am - noon)

Summer Schedule, June 1st through August 30th (approx. 40 hours/week)
  • Five (5) weekdays (7:30am - 3:30pm with an hour unpaid lunch break)
  • One (1) weekend days (7am - noon)

INCENTIVES: This is an IMRF qualifying position with part time leave accruing monthly. The wage range for this position is $16.00-$20.00 per hour and includes complimentary membership benefits to Tinley Fitness Center, Tony Bettenhausen Recreation Center, White Water Canyon Water Park, and Canine Campus Dog Park. The entry-level wage for all new hires will be $16.00 per hour.
ABOUT US: The Tinley Park-Park District is an award-winning public agency that provides its 55,000 residents with a wide variety of recreation facilities, programs, events, parks, and open spaces. The Park District maintains over 40 parks, 33 ball fields, and several facilities which include the Tony Bettenhausen Recreation Center, Tinley Fitness, White Water Canyon Water Park, Canine Campus Dog Park, Tinley Junction Miniature Golf & Batting Cages, Vogt Visual Arts Center, and the Tinley Park Performing Arts Center.
