Job description

Stanbridge University is seeking dedicated and clinically experienced nursing professionals to join our Vocational Nursing (VN) program as Weekend Clinical & Skills Lab Adjunct Faculty. This opportunity supports ongoing and future instructional needs for weekend clinical rotations, simulation activities, and hands-on nursing skills instruction across multiple campus locations.

This role is designed for clinicians who are passionate about mentoring the next generation of nurses while contributing consistent and dependable weekend instructional support. Faculty assignments may include clinical supervision, bedside instruction, simulation facilitation, nursing skills validation, and laboratory-based teaching aligned with program and accreditation standards.

We are actively recruiting faculty with recent clinical experience in:

  • Fundamentals
  • Medical-Surgical Nursing
  • Obstetrics (Maternal-Newborn Nursing)
  • Pediatrics
  • Mental Health / Psychiatric Nursing

Teaching assignments are based on clinical expertise, regulatory requirements, campus needs, and faculty availability.

Weekend Instructional Commitment

Weekend clinical and skills laboratory instruction requires dependable and recurring faculty availability to support student continuity, accreditation standards, and clinical site scheduling.

Priority consideration will be given to candidates who can provide consistent weekend instructional availability throughout the academic term rather than intermittent, rotating, or occasional availability.

This opportunity is best suited for clinicians seeking an ongoing adjunct teaching role and who can reliably commit to scheduled weekend assignments as part of the instructional team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Deliver hands-on clinical and/or skills laboratory instruction using approved course materials and institutional standards
  • Supervise students in clinical settings to ensure safe, competent, and professional patient care
  • Facilitate nursing skills demonstrations, return demonstrations, and competency validation activities
  • Integrate theory into clinical and simulation-based instruction
  • Promote clinical judgment, patient safety, and evidence-based nursing practice
  • Lead pre- and post-clinical conferences to reinforce learning objectives
  • Evaluate student performance using established academic and clinical criteria
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of attendance, evaluations, competencies, and student performance
  • Foster a professional learning environment that promotes accountability, integrity, communication, and collaboration
  • Support student engagement through active mentorship and instructional accessibility
  • Ensure compliance with university policies, clinical agency requirements, and regulatory standards
  • Maintain current knowledge of nursing practice, instructional methodology, and clinical expectations
  • Participate in department meetings, training, and faculty activities as required
Qualifications
  • Current, active California Registered Nurse (RN) license required
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of four (4) years of clinical nursing experience within the past five (5) years
  • Minimum of one (1) year of acute care nursing experience within the past five (5) years required
  • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience in the applicable specialty area within the past five (5) years
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification required
  • Previous clinical teaching, precepting, or staff education experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint required
  • ATI and CourseKey experience preferred
  • Up-to-date immunization records required
