Job description


Essential Job Duties:
  1. Obtain blood and other specimens from patients and process them correctly
  2. Correctly process specimens received through the tube system or brought from outside sources.
  3. Assist in clerical duties.
  4. Disinfect all counters each shift.
  5. Clean morgue when needed, and maintain supplies.
  6. Perform courier duties when needed.
  7. Must be able to engage both fellow employees and customers with compassion and respect.
  8. All GSH Lab employees will promote the Hospital Mission and Vision statement: Provide excellent health care and promote healing through trusting relationships, and to be recognized as the regional center of excellence for health care. Employee will actively practice our PRIDE values. Assure that you involve yourselves in our 7 beacons of excellence: 1) patient safely and quality, 2) financial viability, 3) patient satisfaction, 4) physician support, 5) employee education, 6) support our new Master Facility Plan, and 7) support our community out-reach programs.

Secondary Job Duties That May be Reassigned:
  1. Review and sign all educational material that is made available.
  2. Keep phlebotomy trays clean and maintained with supplies so they are always ready for use.
  3. Keep break room, clean and organized.

Qualifications
  • Education: High School graduate or GED. Science courses helpful
  • Experience: Previous phlebotomy experience, or on-the-job training.
