Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.

A laboratory in the Basic Sciences Division is recruiting an hourly Lab Aide for 16-18 hours per week.  The Aide will coordinate with lab members and work a consistent weekly schedule (i.e., 3x 6 hours) with some flexibility for shift days/times after the initial training period.

This is not a summer only job. This is an ongoing part time opportunity at our South Lake Union Campus.

Responsibilities
  • Care and maintenance of fly stocks.
  • General lab maintenance, including preparation of lab reagents and stock solutions, cleaning, sterilizing labware, and other duties, as assigned.
  • Provide back-up support to Fly Kitchen when necessary.
  • Attention to detail essential.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent with an interest in the sciences.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Some lab experience and/or college level chemistry courses preferred.
  • Reliable and able to produce consistent high quality results.

Must be able to lift trays weighing 20-30 pounds.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $21.30 to $30.13 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.
