CHILDCARE WORKER (Part-time)
Joy House – Milwaukee Rescue Mission Division for Women amp; Children: The women and children who come to us for emergency or long-term support rely on the safety, love and warmth of Joy House and its many services. We nourish and nurture them through training, education and spiritual guidance so they can make better lives for themselves and for their kids.
Joy House is seeking a part-time Childcare Worker to encourage learning through developmentally appropriate play and hands-on experiences in a nurturing environment. This position cares for children 0-4 years old that are temporarily living in Joy House. We strive to develop a relationship with the parent and child to build trust and offer encouragement and guidance. Our goal is to build a parent’s confidence and enhance a child's self-esteem through appropriate expectations, the development of new skills, and experiencing the love of Christ through the care provided by and relationships developed with our staff.
WORK SCHEDULE: Part-time, 1st shift, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-1:30pm
LOCATION: Central Campus, 830 N 19th Street, Milwaukee, WI. 53233
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plan and implement lesson plans
  • Instruct preschool-aged children in activities designed to promote intellectual and creative growth
  • Create a clean fun and safe learning environment
  • Develop schedules and routines to ensure adequate physical activity, rest and playtime (including field trips, walks and outside playtime with other children)
  • Communicate with parents on child’s growth and progress
  • Document child’s progress and interaction with parent in case notes
  • Maintain the health and safety of all students
  • Available to care for children of all ages throughout the day to assist parents due to Case Worker and Program meetings and instruction
  • Available to assist with child care during family crisis
  • Assist with Learning Lab, hospitality duties, and seasonal decorations and bulletin boards
  • Perform first aid and/or life saving measures if necessary
  • Perform all other tasks as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a childcare worker with education in early childhood development required
  • Experience in crisis nursery work preferred
  • First Aid, CPR and AED certification preferred. Willing to be certified within one year of hire.
  • Ability to build rapport with children and parents
  • Positive and patient demeanor
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Dedicated, flexible, enthusiastic
  • Ability and willingness to share the gospel
  • A workplace demeanor consistent with a Christian church environment: civil, respectful, polite, and responsive
  • Be in agreement with and subscribe to the MRM Statement of Faith and the MRM Statement of Biblical Convictions
  • Be a committed follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is evident in personal testimony and Christian conduct
  • Pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
