) Staff Attorney - The Weinberg Center for Elder Justice - Immediate Opportunity
Join Our Team at The Weinberg Center for Elder Justice!
Schedule: 4 Days a week in office
The Weinberg Center for Elder Justice-the nation's first elder abuse shelter-offers comprehensive elder justice services throughout New York City and Westchester County. Our services include:
  • Safe, short-term shelter with legal and supportive services via our Safe Haven program
  • Elder abuse screening and follow-up on the RiverSpring Living campus
  • Professional consultation helplines and brief client support
  • Interdisciplinary policy advocacy and research

Position Overview
We are seeking a part-time, in-person Staff Attorney to join our multidisciplinary team in Riverdale, NY. This role will involve direct legal services, shelter resident advocacy, and court appearances across NYC and Westchester (Family, Housing, and Supreme Court).
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop legal strategies in collaboration with social workers and other professionals
  • Coordinate and deliver trainings and outreach to professional audiences
  • Assist with grant writing and reporting
  • Engage in policy and legislative work on elder justice issues
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners, agencies, and law enforcement

Qualifications
  • Juris Doctorate and admission to practice in New York State (required)
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Experience in elder abuse, domestic violence, or victim advocacy (preferred)

Compensation
  • Annual Salary: $83,000-$100,000
