Job description

About Rivian Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract. As a company, we constantly challenge what's possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations. Role Summary The Senior Validation Fleet Manager ensures the right vehicles are available, correctly configured, roadworthy, and visible to the teams that need them so validation work can happen on the right assets at the right time. This role partners closely with V&V leads and cross-functional stakeholders to recommend fleet actions, readiness priorities, and asset allocation decisions based on vehicle maturity, content, test intent, and fleet status. Final validation priority and test execution decisions remain with the responsible V&V leads and program owners. This role is also highly execution-oriented and owns much of the day-to-day manual coordination required to keep the fleet moving, including Jira ticket management, asset tracking, readiness follow-up, and issue visibility across validation and engineering teams. Responsibilities Own day-to-day validation fleet allocation, scheduling, and shared asset planning across vehicle tests, workshop support, off-hours usage, audits, and decommission coordination. Partner closely with V&V leads and stakeholders to recommend fleet actions, readiness sequencing, and asset prioritization based on vehicle maturity, content, constraints, and test needs, while leads and program owners retain final decisions. Own planning and scheduling of the shared development vehicles. Execute the manual fleet management work required to keep assets test-ready, including Jira ticket creation and follow-up, issue tracking, status updates, asset ownership hygiene, and coordination of open fleet actions to closure. Maintain clear visibility of vehicle usage, location, ownership, readiness, and blockers through regular reporting that enables faster decisions and continuous improvement. Coordinate and act as the primary liaison with the Test and Development team to balance validation usage and fleet upkeep needs. Support grounding, inspection, containment, and other fleet action workflows by identifying affected VINs, tracking closure, and maintaining action visibility. Act as a cross-functional facilitator who improves fleet processes, clarifies responsibilities, and helps teams work through ambiguity during compressed validation timelines. Qualifications Typically 6+ years of related experience in fleet operations, vehicle testing, validation support, prototype operations, or similar hands-on technical coordination roles. Strong working knowledge of validation fleet operations, vehicle usage planning, transport and movement coordination, fleet status tracking, and asset readiness management. Working familiarity with vehicle maturity, content differences, and basic test intent, with the ability to make practical day-to-day recommendations and escalate tradeoffs appropriately. Demonstrated ability to manage complex assignments independently, balance multiple priorities, and coordinate effectively across validation, T&D, engineering, workshop, and operations teams. Strong data hygiene, reporting discipline, and comfort owning detailed execution work using Jira, spreadsheets, fleet tools, dashboards, or similar systems in a fast-moving environment. Pay Disclosure The salary range for this role is $98,500 - $123,100 for California based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs. The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus and equity awards. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits for full-time and part-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26, including but not limited to paid vacation, paid sick leave, and a competitive portfolio of insurance benefits including life, medical, dental, vision, short-term disability insurance, and long-term disability insurance to eligible employees. You may also have the opportunity to participate in Rivian's 401(k) Plan and Employee Stock Purchase Program if you meet certain eligibility requirements. Full-time employee coverage is effective on their first day of employment. Part-time employee coverage is effective the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
