Job description

LFC*daycare is a bilingual (English amp; French) Early Learning Center for children aged from 24 to 36 months. It operates under the umbrella of the LFC*extra Program of the Lycée Français de Chicago* (LFC*), a well-established pre-k-12 international school.
The Lycée Français de Chicago* is hiring a French-speaking Child Caregiver for its daycare program for ages 24-36 months. Under the authority of the LFC*daycare Director, the Child Caregiver will create an enriching learning environment and look after the basic needs of the children under their care. This position starts in November 2024.
The successful applicant will have demonstrable experience in caring for 2-year-olds. They should display a friendly demeanor and have a love for children. They should be compassionate, patient, and strive to create a supportive and encouraging environment for children. Early childhood development experience is a plus and they must speak French.
Requirements:
  • A high school diploma or equivalency certificate (GED).
  • At least 19 years old
  • A minimum of an associate degree in child development or early childhood education
  • 64 semester hours in any discipline with a minimum of 21 college credits in child development, early childhood education, or early childhood special education.
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential.
  • A strong knowledge of DCFS standards and child development.
  • Able to lift 25-30 lbs.
  • Able to walk, squat/kneel, sit on the floor, see, hear, and speak with children.
  • Knowledge of the French language is required for this position

  • Serving, organizing, and supervising mealtimes and snacks.
  • Planning and supervising balanced routines that include physical activities, rest, and playtime.
  • Providing responsible care and maintaining all safety standards.
  • Ensuring a safe, sanitary, and orderly environment.
  • Maintaining professional and positive relationships with parents, children, and staff.
  • Notifying supervisors and families of any signs of health, emotional or developmental issues.
  • Providing structure and accountability that is firm but compassionate.
  • Assisting children in the bathroom or with diapering tasks as needed.
  • Encouraging children to participate in all activities.

Additional Information:

  • This is a part-time position with benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 403b with 4% match after 2 years, 70% tuition remission for any children enrolled at the Lycée Français de Chicago*, 10% tuition remission for any children enrolled at LFC*daycare, and a generous paid time-off policy (sick leave plus 4 weeks paid leave per year).
  • The salary range for this role is $41-49k annually.
  • All prospective employees must be able to clear a background check, as well as provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination, MMR vaccination, and negative results of a TB test.
  • This position requires onsite presence at the LFC* campus.
