Job description

Battle Ground Academy seeks a part-time IT Support Technician. The IT Support Technician helps maintain the school's hardware lifecycle and network infrastructure. This position is a blend of hardware logistics, technical support, and hands-on systems installation. You will be responsible for ensuring faculty have the tools they need to succeed and that our network backbone remains robust and secure.
BGA is the oldest school in Franklin, a remarkable city located just 20 miles south of Nashville. It has been referred to as "a small-town gem" by the New York Times. The downtown is filled with locally-owned shops and restaurants. Main Street is home to iconic venues such as the Franklin Theater. Franklin features an abundance of historical sites and parks appealing to those who enjoy history and/or the outdoors. Quaint and welcoming, Franklin is truly a wonderful place to call home.
Job Requirements
Device Lifecycle Management
  • Provisioning: Unbox, enroll, and configure new laptops, tablets, and desktop workstations for P-12 faculty and staff using MDM solutions.
  • Decommissioning: Perform secure data wipes and factory resets on end-of-life hardware in compliance with data privacy standards.
  • Asset Resale: Clean, inspect, and package retired devices for bulk resale or recycling programs to maximize the school's ROI.
  • Inventory: Maintain an accurate digital database of all hardware assets and assigned equipment.

Network & Infrastructure Support
  • Physical Installation: Aid in the physical deployment of wired networking gear, including racking switches and patching cables.
  • Wireless Deployment: Mount and configure wireless access points (APs) across campus classrooms, gyms, and common areas.
  • Troubleshooting: Assist the Network Administrator in diagnosing physical layer connectivity issues.

Requirements
Qualifications
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with macOS, Windows, and iOS environments.
  • Physical Agility & Elevated Work: * Comfort with Heights: Must be comfortable working at significant heights (up to 35 feet) to service equipment in high-ceiling areas like gyms, theaters, or atriums.
  • Ladder & Lift Operation: Ability to safely operate and work from ladders and motorized aerial lifts (scissor or boom lifts).
  • Physical Capability: Ability to lift and carry equipment crates up to 40 lbs and navigate a multi-building campus.
  • Detail Oriented: Ability to manage repetitive tasks (like imaging 50 laptops or iPads) with high accuracy.
  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills; the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical faculty with patience.
  • Experience: 1-3 years in a technical support or "bench tech" role. Experience in a P-12 environment is a major plus.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
  • Status: This is a Part-Time position.
  • Hours: Flexible scheduling between 20 to 30 hours per week, depending on project load and school needs.
  • Physicality: This is an active role. You will be walking across campus, climbing ladders or operating lifts for hardware installs, and managing hardware shipments.
