The Information Technology department at the University of Idaho is seeking a talented UX/UI Designer to help create exceptional user experiences across our enterprise applications. You'll work on various platforms that serve our students, faculty, and staff - from student dashboards to support portals - ensuring each interface is intuitive, visually appealing, and accessible.
We need a skilled designer to create compelling user interfaces, develop cohesive design systems, craft custom graphics and illustrations, and ensure our digital solutions are both visually compelling and functional across all university platforms.
The position is part-time for up to 20 hours during Fall and Spring semesters, the job is flexible around your schedule. If you are working on a degree related to the UX/UI field and have a passion for creating exceptional digital experiences at University of Idaho we have a unique, fun, and rewarding opportunity for you!
Duties Include:
  • Assist in applying high-level insights from existing UX research and help identify any additional user needs in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Support limited-scope UX research efforts to better understand student and stakeholder needs during testing.
  • Contribute to feedback sessions by helping document findings or sketch out quick solutions-wireframes or notes-to support iteration.
  • Collaborate with the development team by providing testing feedback that informs design and workflow improvements.
  • Help plan and carry out usability testing for current features; assist in analyzing results and summarizing findings for the team.
  • Participate in reviewing the user experience of the MyUI platform to ensure it continues to meet student needs and expectations.
  • Assist with accessibility testing by following provided checklists and tools to verify that new or existing content supports all users, including those with disabilities.

  • Create wireframes and user flows to communicate design concepts effectively
  • Create design specifications and assets for development handoff
  • Work on diverse projects ranging from student-facing applications (like MyUI) to internal support portals
  • Iterate on designs based on stakeholder feedback and technical constraints
  • Ensure all designs meet accessibility standards and university brand guidelines
  • Contribute to the visual identity and overall user experience strategy for IT applications
