Job Title: Skilled Illustrator (Seasonal)

Location: Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium
Event: Jack O’ Lantern Extravaganza
Pay Rate: $22/hour
Schedule: Minimum 16 hours/week | Mid-September 2025 – October 31, 2025

Position Overview:

The Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium is seeking talented and detail-oriented Skilled Illustrators to join our creative team for the annual Jack O’ Lantern Extravaganza. This seasonal role involves creating photo-realistic illustrations on pumpkins that will be carved into stunning, lifelike displays for one of our most popular fall events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create highly realistic illustrations on pumpkins using alcohol markers and pens
  • Focus on contrast, shading, and fine detail to guide expert pumpkin carvers
  • Collaborate with the creative team to bring themed concepts to life
  • Maintain a consistent and high-quality artistic standard across all work
  • Work on-site at the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium during scheduled hours

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in realistic illustration, preferably in portraiture or nature-themed art
  • Strong skills in shading, contrast, and fine line work
  • Proficiency with alcohol markers and fine-tip pens
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Must be available to work at least 16 hours per week from mid-September through October 31, 2025
