Job description

Part-Time HR Assistant

Location: Onsite; Columbia, MO

Schedule: Part-Time (10-20 hours per week)

The Part-Time HR Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the Human Resources team and thrives in a people-focused, service-oriented role. This position is well suited for someone who enjoys supporting others, building relationships, and helping employees navigate questions and processes. The HR Assistant will support filing, recruiting and onboarding activities, HR projects, employee inquiries, compliance reporting, and HRIS (Paylocity) administration, while contributing to a positive and supportive employee experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Scan, sort, organize, and properly dispose of employee files in accordance with record retention guidelines
  • Review and clean up older personnel files to ensure documents are accurately categorized
  • Support recruiting and onboarding by posting jobs, screening candidates, coordinating background checks, and assisting with orientation
  • Partner with hiring managers to confirm job description updates and role requirements
  • Assist with HR projects and initiatives, including Open Enrollment and other large-scale programs
  • Respond to basic employee questions related to HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook; escalate complex issues as needed
  • Support compliance reporting and documentation (e.g., EEO, OSHA, and other required filings)
  • Provide HRIS (Paylocity) support, including maintaining position data, assisting with employee and manager transactions, supporting Open Enrollment setup, and documenting HR processes
  • Develop and maintain clear Paylocity guides and resources for people managers

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or a related field preferred
  • 13 years of administrative, customer service, or HR-related experience preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
  • Comfortable learning and using HR systems; experience with Paylocity is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
