Part Time Helicopter Mechanic Jobs (NOW HIRING)

The Position OPEN & PROMOTIONAL EXAMINATION - SIX MONTH PROBATIONARY PERIOD Job Description: Under general supervision, inspects, repairs and maintains the Police Department helicopters, including helicopter piston engines, helicopter turbine engines, rotor systems, transmissions, fuel controls, governors, magnetos and police equipment used on helicopters. This classification will be expected to diagnose, resolve and oversee complex helicopter repairs and mechanical issues. Classification Code: 3341 Reporting Relationships: This position reports to a Police Sergeant.

Minimum Requirements MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS The following functions are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all listed functions and/or may be required to perform additional or different functions from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

An equivalent combination of experience and education sufficient to perform the essential job functions and provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required. Experience: Five years of experience completing major and minor repairs in helicopter maintenance including three years of experience maintaining MD500 Series helicopters is required.

Certifications/Licenses FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate is required. Must be eligible for FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) and obtain the authorization before the end of the probationary period. Transportation: For staff without a valid California Driver's License, the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions is required.

Hourly City employees may be considered, provided that they furnish proof of continuous employment immediately preceding the final filing date, which would equal a minimum of six months of full-time service or 1040 part-time hours. Working Conditions Work is primarily performed outside in a variety of field and weather conditions. Work is primarily performed Monday to Friday during regular office hours. Approximately the top 15 scoring candidates who achieve a minimum passing score of 70% on the written examination will be invited to the further stages of the selection process. BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION: A comprehensive background investigation will be conducted on all finalists, which will review and verify personal history including, but not limited to financial responsibility, criminal history, drug use history, driving record, and verification of application materials.
