What is a part time HEDIS?
A Part Time HEDIS job involves reviewing and collecting healthcare data for the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS), a standardized tool used by health plans to measure performance. Employees in this role typically analyze medical records, ensure data accuracy, and assist with reporting for quality improvement. These positions are often seasonal, required primarily during the HEDIS data collection period, and can be remote or office-based. Experience in medical coding, healthcare data entry, or nursing is often preferred.
What does a typical workweek look like for a part time HEDIS professional?
A typical workweek for a Part Time HEDIS professional involves reviewing and abstracting medical records to collect and report healthcare quality measures, often on a flexible schedule that may accommodate remote work. You will collaborate closely with nurses, providers, and quality improvement teams to ensure data accuracy and meet project deadlines. While the pace can be fast during key reporting periods, there is often support and training to help you succeed. This role offers a unique blend of independent work and teamwork, making it well-suited for professionals looking to balance other commitments.
What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the part time HEDIS position, and why are they important?
To succeed as a Part Time HEDIS professional, candidates typically need a background in healthcare, familiarity with medical records, and experience with HEDIS (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set) measures, often requiring certification or training in HEDIS abstraction. Proficiency with electronic health records (EHRs), data abstraction tools, and health plan reporting software is commonly expected. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication make someone stand out in this role. These skills ensure accurate data collection, compliance with quality standards, and effective collaboration with clinical and administrative teams.
