What are part time healthcare jobs?

Part time healthcare jobs are positions within the medical or healthcare field that require employees to work fewer hours than a typical full-time schedule, often ranging from a few hours a week up to around 30 hours. These roles can include nurses, medical assistants, administrative staff, therapists, and technicians who work flexible shifts. Part time healthcare jobs are ideal for individuals seeking work-life balance, students, or those supplementing another job. Benefits and responsibilities may differ from full-time positions, but part-time workers still play a crucial role in delivering patient care.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time healthcare worker?

To thrive as a Part Time Healthcare worker, you need foundational knowledge of patient care, basic medical procedures, and relevant certifications such as CPR or CNA, depending on the specific role. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), scheduling software, and standard medical equipment is often required. Strong organizational skills, reliability, and effective communication help you manage shifting responsibilities and build trust with patients and colleagues. These competencies ensure consistent, safe, and efficient care delivery, even within limited work hours.

How do part time healthcare professionals typically balance their work schedules with other commitments?

Part-time healthcare professionals often manage flexible or variable shifts, which can make balancing work with personal or educational commitments more achievable. However, they may face challenges such as less predictable hours and the need to quickly adapt to different patient loads or care teams. Effective time management, clear communication with supervisors about availability, and a willingness to be flexible are key to making part-time healthcare roles successful. Many employers value part-time staff for their adaptability and often provide scheduling tools or shift-swapping options to support work-life balance.

Job description

Are you a natural people-person who loves building real relationships and helping others make confident decisions? Angel Animal Hospital is looking for an outgoing, trustworthy, and compassionate Patient Health Care Advisor to join our growing team.

This role is perfect for someone with sales or client-facing experience who believes in education, advocacy, and honest communication — not pressure tactics. You’ll serve as a guide for our clients, helping them understand care options and advocating for the best outcomes for their pets.

Located in Springfield, MO, our newly remodeled hospital features two specialized departments: traditional veterinary medicine and holistic/integrative care, including acupuncture, chiropractic services, and advanced therapies.

Why You’ll Love Working With Us
  • Serving the Springfield community for over 60 years
  • Modern, remodeled facility designed for efficiency and comfort
  • Unique blend of conventional and integrative veterinary medicine
  • Supportive, collaborative culture focused on patient care and trust
  • No emergency shifts — enjoy a healthy work-life balance
  • A role with growth potential and performance-based earning opportunity
Your Responsibilities
  • Build rapport and trust with clients through genuine, thoughtful conversations
  • Educate pet owners on recommended care plans, services, and treatment options
  • Advocate for patient health by helping clients understand the value of veterinary care
  • Work closely with doctors, technicians, and front desk staff to ensure a seamless client experience
  • Support follow-up communication and client education as needed
  • Serve as a calm, confident resource for clients navigating care decisions
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven sales, customer service, or client advisory experience (veterinary experience is a plus, but not required)
  • Outgoing, confident, and comfortable speaking with people
  • Honest, empathetic communication style — not high-pressure sales
  • Ability to build long-term trust and relationships with clients
  • Strong listening skills and emotional intelligence
  • Motivated by helping others and advocating for patient care
Compensation & Growth
  • $15/hour during the training period
  • After training, transition to a production-based compensation structure
  • Ongoing training and mentorship to set you up for success
Benefits
  • Flexible scheduling (full or part-time available)
  • Health insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Employee discounts on services and products
  • Supportive leadership and a role designed to grow with you

If you’re someone who loves connecting with people, educating clients, and making a real impact on patient care, we’d love to meet you.

Apply today and become part of the Angel Animal Hospital family.
