Contract Grants & Funding Opportunity Writer
Community Advocates for Family & Youth (CAFY) is seeking an experienced Contract Grants & Funding Opportunity Writer to provide part-time, independent contractor support with grant writing, contract proposals, and funding opportunity research.
Responsibilities
  • Research and identify grants, RFPs, NOFOs, and other funding opportunities aligned with CAFY programs.
  • Assess funding opportunities for eligibility, fit, funding amount, and deadlines.
  • Develop and edit grant proposals, concept papers, letters of inquiry, and contract applications.
  • Gather information from CAFY staff and translate program data into compelling narratives.
  • Maintain a funding opportunity and proposal deadline tracker.
  • Provide recommendations on high-priority funding opportunities.
Monthly Deliverables
For $800–$1,100/month, the contractor is expected to provide:
  • Identify 6–8 qualified funding opportunities monthly.
  • Provide a brief funding-fit assessment for priority opportunities.
  • Complete or substantially advance 2–3 grant/contract applications or concept papers, depending on complexity.
  • Maintain an updated funding pipeline and submission calendar.
  • Participate in one monthly in-person planning meeting with CAFY leadership.
  • Provide timely updates on deadlines, requirements, and application status.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of business or nonprofit grant writing, proposal/contract development, or compelling writing experience.
  • Demonstrated success identifying and securing funding.
  • Excellent writing, research, editing, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with human services, behavioral health, victim services, or community programs is a plus.
Compensation: $800–$1,100/month, based on experience and scope of work. Independent contractor position.
