Job description

Founded in 1894, The Washington Golf & Country Club (WGCC) is one of the nation's most distinguished private clubs, celebrated for its tradition of excellence, refined atmosphere, and outstanding member service. With panoramic views of the D.C. skyline and a legacy of hospitality spanning more than a century, WGCC offers an extraordinary member and guest experience- and we're looking for a part-time Front Desk Attendant to work three evenings a week in our Racquets facility.
The Front Desk Attendant will be friendly, professional, and service-oriented. This role serves as a key point of contact for members and guests, ensuring a welcoming experience while maintaining efficient front desk operations during evening hours.
Responsibilities
  • Greet members and guests warmly and provide exceptional service consistent with club standards
  • Manage racquets desk operations including court reservations, lesson scheduling, and check-ins
  • Answer phone calls and respond to member inquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Coordinate with tennis and racquets professionals regarding schedules, clinics, and events
  • Process payments for lessons, clinics, merchandise, and guest fees
  • Maintain accurate records of court usage, reservations, and daily transactions
  • Ensure the front desk and surrounding areas are clean, organized, and well-stocked
  • Communicate effectively with other departments to support overall club operations
  • Enforce club policies and ensure a positive and respectful environment for all members

Requirements
  • Previous customer service or hospitality experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable using reservation systems and basic computer applications (experience with systems like Paylocity or club software is a plus)
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Must be able to sit, walk, squat, kneel, crawl, reach, bend, stoop, twist, stand, climb, clean and lift up to 40 pounds
  • Must be able to handle hot and cold interior and exterior conditions and exposure to dust
  • Must be able to handle proximity to moving machinery and working from heights
  • Independent mobility
