Job Description:
L3 Harris in Carlstadt, NJ has a current opportunity in our Quality Department for Radiographic (RT L2) and Fluorescent Penetrant (PT L2) Inspectors to inspect our critical components for our diverse customer base. Here you will have an opportunity to be part of our growing NDT department with advanced capabilities including film radiography, Digital radiography (CR ), and fluorescent penetrant inspection (FPI). Our employees apply their experience, skills, expertise, and knowledge to produce components used in aerospace.
We are looking for dedicated, trustworthy individuals with training and experience necessary to perform the NDT Level 2 responsibilities described below. We have continued to invest in new technology, such as digital Radiography (CR), and plan to expand the non-destructive inspection testing area to make our NDT department a great place to work.
Essential Functions:
  • Perform radiographic inspection and fluorescent penetrant inspection by following provided techniques, and work instructions to inspect the welds, heat affected zones and parent material on components fabricated from material such as Inconel, aluminum, stainless Steel and Titanium.
  • Interpretation of results to determine whether parts pass or fail inspection based on Drawings, procedures and customer specifications.
  • Assist in maintaining the radiographic inspection and fluorescent penetrant inspection areas and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections and process logs as required by the method
  • Detect and identify indications affecting quality and safety factors such as cracks, inclusions, cavities, undercuts, incomplete fusion and porosity, etc.
  • Determine and disposition (accept or reject) items based on NDT results.
  • Record test results, findings and dispositions manually or with the aid of a computer or computer based system.
  • Coordinate recurring defects with concerned with supervisor and quality engineer personnel, and if required recommend corrective action measures.
  • Test and pass NAS 410 Level II certification in house.
  • Able to pass vision test requirements.
  • Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.
  • May be require to work some weekends.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of 800 hours experience in industrial X-ray experience or 400 hours experience in fluorescent penetrant experience inspecting aerospace components.
  • Previous certification as an X-ray Level 2 or fluorescent penetrant Level 2 to specification ASNT or NAS410.

Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Experience with DDA, CR (digital X-ray) desirable but not required.
  • Able to work independently and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong work ethic, high attention to detail, and team player.
  • Have a desire to increase technical and leadership skills in the NDT field.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (Office, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency using precision measuring tools.
  • Knowledge and experience of aerospace manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Good communication skills, and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong problem solving and ability to create manual approaches to measuring.
  • When required, ability to work in a fast pace environment to meet deadlines.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in the state of New Jersey is $18.50/hr - $59.13/hr. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
