This position provides clerical and administrative support to the Solicitor-General and office staff, including maintaining a front-office presence as well assisting with in-court proceedings.
This position is part-time p to 29 hours per week with no benefits.
  • Responsibilities include:
    • Answers phones and greets visitors; schedules appointments and maintains calendars; collects and distributes mail; writes letters, e-mails, and other memos.
    • Receives legal documents such as warrants, motions, discovery requests to compile with related case/file.
    • Creates and maintains legal files, including physical file folders and electronic files in the case management system; verifies accuracy of information and enters/updates data into the case management system.
    • Downloads and uploads applicable case materials into the case management system; organizes files in both the case management system and physical file folder according to office standards.
    • Creates court calendars using the case management system and generates notices and envelopes to attorneys and applicable parties.
    • Files legal documents and notices with the clerk of court.
    • Attends court proceedings and assists the Solicitor-General, office staff, and members of the public with applicable paperwork. Court-appropriate dress is required.
    • Keeps the Solicitor-General and office staff accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems or visitor needs.

  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as computer and telephone skills, are necessary, including knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
    • Superior customer service skills, positive attitude, personal responsibility and a strong sense of responsibility to the community at large is preferred.
    • Excellent organization and ability to prioritize duties and deadlines.
    • Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the program and the workings of the criminal justice system.
    • Ability to work with various parties, including law enforcement agencies, members of the public, and court officials.
    • Ability to work with and provide services to individuals of all backgrounds and cultures, as well as the ability to work well with and at the direction of the Solicitor-General.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • High School Diploma, or G.E.D.
    • Two (2) years of related work experience, or equivalent training and/or education.
    • Valid State of Georgia Driver's License.
    • Applicants selected for hire will be subject to fingerprinting, a criminal history background check, a motor vehicle driver's history check and pre-employment drug screening. Employment is contingent upon the completion and satisfactory results of each investigation
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Work is performed in an office and in a courtroom, sometimes for long periods. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, and occasional lifting of heavy objects are necessary functions of the position.
