What are part-time factory jobs?

Part-time factory jobs are positions within manufacturing or production facilities that require employees to work fewer hours than a standard full-time schedule, typically less than 35-40 hours per week. These roles can include tasks such as assembly, packaging, quality control, machine operation, and material handling. Part-time factory work can be ideal for students, retirees, or anyone needing a flexible schedule. Benefits and job responsibilities may vary depending on the employer and the specific industry. Many part-time positions offer opportunities to gain valuable industrial experience and can sometimes lead to full-time employment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Factory Worker, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Factory Worker, you generally need good physical stamina, attention to detail, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with basic machinery, safety protocols, and sometimes inventory or production management systems is often required. Dependability, teamwork, and the ability to follow instructions are valuable soft skills in this role. These skills and qualities are essential to ensure efficient production, workplace safety, and smooth operations in a factory setting.

What are some common challenges faced by part-time factory workers, and how can they be managed?

Part-time factory workers often face challenges such as adapting to shift changes, learning a variety of tasks quickly, and managing physical demands. Job description

Factory Store Receiving/Shipping Associate - Part Time
About Lodge Cast Iron
We got our start over 125 years ago when Joseph Lodge founded the Blacklock Foundry in South Pittsburg, TN. His scrappy, hardworking spirit continues to lead us today. As a team, we believe cast iron is for everyone. We're dedicated to manufacturing American-made cookware that we're proud to use in our very own homes and excited to bring to kitchens, backyards, and campfires around the world. Day in and day out, we work together to stay safe, have fun, and be better than we were the day before.
What fires us up?
By now, you may have caught on to the fact that we're serious about spreading the joys of cast iron. And while we're always on the lookout for ways to innovate, we believe in the adage: If it ain't broke, don't fix it. That's why we stand by a simple recipe of just iron and oil (no forever chemicals, since forever!). It's also why we're passionate about keeping our campus in our hometown of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, providing great jobs to our community. As we bring our cookware to the next generation of cast iron chefs, we're looking for people to help us stay true to our roots every step of the way. Does that sound like something you can get behind?
A Day in the Life of a Factory Store Receiving/Shipping Associate
As a Factory Store Receiving/Shipping Associate at Lodge Cast Iron, you'll be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our shipping and receiving processes. Your role is critical in maintaining the accuracy and quality of all incoming and outgoing shipments, transfers, and merchandise. You'll work closely with the sales floor team to keep our store well-stocked and organized, making sure products are ready for our customers.
If you're detail-oriented, organized, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, this role will be a great fit for you.
Responsibilities
  • Receive incoming shipments, verifying the accuracy of packing slips against purchase orders and physical inventory.
  • Report damages and discrepancies to management from creation to resolution.
  • Maintain organized, error-free paperwork and filing systems.
  • Communicate incoming product to the sales floor Manager on Duty (MOD) to prepare space for new inventory.
  • Unpack, sort, tag, and deliver merchandise to the sales floor in a timely manner.
  • Operate dolly, pallet jack, and forklift as needed.
  • Prepare outgoing packages accurately and in a timely manner, using UPS software for correct pricing and labeling.
  • Trace and resolve lost shipments and/or customer claims of lost shipments.
  • Consult with the manager to lead, guide, and train employees performing related work in accordance with Lodge standards.
  • Keep the backroom clean and organized to Lodge standards.
  • Perform store opening and closing procedures as needed, including cash handling.
  • Provide excellent customer service over the phone and on the sales floor.
  • Stay familiar with all Lodge policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Assist customers with product knowledge and advice.
  • Assist with or perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
  • At least a high school diploma or GED.
  • Valid state vehicle operator license that is in good standing.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and stand on a solid surface for up to 10 hours or more.
  • Ability to climb, bend, push, pull, and kneel.
