Project Overview:
Thacker Pass is the largest known lithium resource in the United States. Once complete, the mine and processing facilities will produce more lithium carbonate than any other facility in the United States by far - enough to power 1 million electric vehicles per year.
As the EPCM contractor for Lithium Americas, Bechtel is responsible for managing and integrating the efforts of a team contractors engineering and building the facility. We are also managing procurement of about $1 Billion in goods and services.
Earth work began in 2023 and design and procurement of long-lead equipment is underway.
The project is located in the high desert and wide-open spaces of north-central Nevada about 25 miles from the Oregon border, 1 hour northwest of Winnemucca, Nevada and 3 hours northeast of Reno.
Planned with sustainability and the environment in mind, the facility will use its excess process heat to generate electricity and will recycle process water up to seven times. Once the second phase of the project is complete, Thacker Pass will produce more than 16 times the current U.S. output of lithium.

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for the oversight of systems and processes in order to support project accounting activities. The position oversees a team of Project Accountants and works closely with our client with respect to capturing costs, submitting invoices, managing accruals and capitalizing assets. This BBS Finance position receives day to day direction from the Project Accounting Manager and functional guidance from the M&M Finance Manager.
This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. #LI-NP1
Major Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring financial and administrative controls for the project in accordance with Bechtel policies and procedures, client requirements, and applicable statutory regulations.
  • Ensuring monthly billings are performed in accordance with contract terms for the project.
  • Managing accounts receivables and payables to ensure prompt payments are made and received.
  • Coordinating and supporting Craft Professional timekeeping processes.
  • Monitoring the status of employee receivables as they pertain to the project and work with project management to ensure all accounts are current.
  • Preparing analysis of financial information, cost estimates, and preparing forecasts and ad-hoc management reporting as required by Project and GBU Management.
  • Supporting the project team with expense report processing, myTime timesheets, and payroll queries.
  • Responding to client inquiries and audits related to finance matters, and working with client representatives to interpret contract provisions as they relate to accounting.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Proficiency with Oracle Systems, CFAR, JADB, Aconex and MyTime
  • Advanced skills in the areas of oral and written communications, project financial process controls, accounts payable, general ledger, timekeeping and billing.
  • Good Interpersonal skills and ability to effectively function in a matrix organization and manage complex high-volume activities.
  • Ability to function effectively within a multi-cultural team environment.
  • Ability to analyze financial data, provide early recognition of potential problems and provide effective and innovative thought processes in handling complex financial issues/problems.
