Summary :
A part-time (20hrs/week) position in a non-profit organization to oversee, connect and develop outreach with community residents that foster neighborhood status Improvement in the neighborhood and community of Amsterdam, NY. Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Programs for Capital Region.
Essential Functions:
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
  • Maintain a strong presence in the community consistently, engaging residents and leveraging opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records of resident contact information and participation.
  • Organize and assist in facilitation of Block Club and committee meetings as specified by Regional Director & Ibero-American Development Corporation.
  • Develop materials for neighborhood to include community calendars, newsletters, and other promotional materials.
  • Effective door to door outreach in the community required on a weekly basis: completing flyer distribution, surveys, recruitment, and other forms of resident feedback & engagement.
  • Ability to identify needs and opportunities that could positively impact neighborhood residents.
  • Ability to track and evaluate progress to create reports as required.
  • Must communicate work schedule with Regional Director due to flexible hours.
  • Assist Senior Director of Programs for Capital Region & Ibero-American Development Corporation in the management of resident projects.

Requirements
Skills and Abilities:
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a must have skill for this position.
  • Associate degree in human resources or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Two years of experience in the human service field or event planning.
  • Proficiency in the use of various types of office equipment including computers, software, copier, fax machine, etc.
  • A combination of training and experience other than the specified, if judged to be adequate for the job, may be considered by President & CEO.

Position Qualifications:
• Excellent communication skills.
• Able to communicate community organizing values and practices to team members and incorporate them into project efforts.
• Ability to facilitate and organize meetings as required by the Regional Director & Ibero-American Development Corporation.
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others as part of a team.
• Ability to work with little supervision.
• Strong outreach, organizational, and computer skills.
• A willingness to be flexible with your schedule, evenings are required and some weekends.
Ability to work and adapt to neighborhood and understand how to empower people to work together for the good of the community.
• Experience in working with Microsoft office Word and Excel.
• Experience in creating, recording, analyzing, and maintaining a database for reporting purposes.
• Other duties as deemed pertinent IADC's President and/or the Regional Director.
• Ability to perform work accurately.
• Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task.
• Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.
• Ability to Motivate, influence, and support others to accomplish team and organizational goals.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word and the ability to communicate in writing clearly and concisely.
• Ability to exhibit a cheerful demeanor toward others.
