Schedule

Part-time – 24 hours per week (3 days) (potential to increase to full time)


Summary

The Part-Time Onsite Counselor provides confidential counseling, assessment, and referral services to employees through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). This role supports employee well-being by addressing personal, emotional, and work-related concerns while promoting awareness and utilization of EAP services across the organization. The Onsite EAP Counselor agrees to adhere to the guidelines of the vendor contract.


Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide short-term, solution-focused counseling to employees dealing with a range of issues (e.g., stress, anxiety, work-life balance, relationship concerns, workplace challenges) according to the 10-session model.
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and develop appropriate treatment or referral plans.
  • Offer crisis intervention and support.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with professional and organizational standards.
  • Ensure strict adherence to confidentiality and ethical guidelines.
  • Collaborate with HR, management, and other stakeholders as appropriate while maintaining client privacy.
  • Participate in case consultation and supervision as required.
  • Provide timely reports in accordance with the provisions of the contract.
  • Develop and deliver educational presentations (e.g., “lunch & learns”) on behavioral health, wellness, and EAP-related topics (e.g. stress management, resilience, mental health awareness).
  • Represent the EAP program at onsite tabling events, health fairs, and employee engagement activities.
Requirements:
  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
  • Current, active unrestricted clinical licensure in the state of Michigan (e.g., LMSW, LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or equivalent) required.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of clinical experience, preferably in EAP, workplace mental health, or outpatient settings.
  • Strong knowledge of mental health assessment, crisis intervention, and brief therapy models.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently in an onsite environment.
