Summary:

The City of Novi, Michigan invites your interest for a part-time position of Emergency Management Coordinator to serve in the Public Safety Administration. This civilian position is responsible for organizing and directing community services pertinent to emergency preparedness, coordinating response to disasters/emergencies and the logistics of county, state, and federal emergency response teams. The Emergency Management Coordinator is the link to emergency preparedness for the City of Novi and is responsible for the maintenance of all emergency action documents for the City of Novi.

Qualifications:

Reporting to the Director of Public Safety/Chief of Police and Assistant Chief of Police for Support Services, the desirable candidate has excellent inter-personal communication skills. Certification in the National Incident Management System (NIMS) is preferred. The ideal candidate is a seasoned, results-oriented leader with experience in a comparably sized community and must possess outstanding organizational, administrative and time management skills. Candidate will be skilled in strategic and tactical thinking/planning with a proven ability to organize multi-agency projects. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who can plan and execute emergency management activities by combining strong leadership abilities with a collaborative/inclusive approach. In addition, ideal candidate must be committed to lifelong learning, leading and working with a team to achieve positive results, and must be energetic, creative and forward thinking. Candidates who are detail-oriented and are effective oral and written communicators will be favorably considered.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT:

  • High school diploma, required.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferred.
  • Possess a minimum of five (5) years of experience in emergency management, law enforcement, or fire service.
  • NIMS certification ICS 100, ICS 200, ICS 700, ICS 800, preferred.

Salary: $25 - $30 per hour depending upon qualifications, up to 29 hours per week.
