Position Highlights
The College of Nursing Simulation Technician is responsible for supporting a healthcare simulation laboratory learning environment based on contemporary best practices, leading edge technology and the testing of new approaches. Under the direction of the Simulation Site Coordinator and Simulation Director, the Simulation Technician will collaborate with the U of A College of Nursing simulation and skills team and work with faculty to support skills acquisition and simulation-based education activities.

Duties & Responsibilities
Simulation & Laboratory Setup and Breakdown:
  • Prepare clinical laboratory environments, including setting up and taking down healthcare simulation mannequins.
  • Set up and take down skills practice, remediation, and testing environments.
  • Ensure compliance with fire codes, disability guidelines, and regulatory requirements when setting up equipment and rooms.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to FERPA regulations.
  • Ensure adherence to institutional safety and compliance standards.

Inventory & Equipment Management:
  • Restock and organize supplies and carts across simulation areas.
  • Prepare student laboratory kits and assist with receiving and inventory.
  • Manage consumable supplies and durable resources, including minor repairs and preventative maintenance.

Technical & Operational Support:
  • Utilize simulation hardware and software, including VR headsets, gaming computers, PCs, and manikin operations.
  • Assist with operating simulators during educational activities.
  • Maintain general cleanliness and functionality of equipment.

Faculty, Student, and Event Support:
  • Support faculty and staff during planning, trailing, and running of simulations.
  • Work with students, volunteers, and student workers.
  • Assist with simulation center tours and events.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
  • Prior work experience not required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialists (CHSOS).
  • Simulation based education experience.
  • Interprofessional education experience.
  • Experience with concept-based curriculum.
  • Integrative Health related experience.
