The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00 per hourbased on skills and experience. This position is non-exempt and overtimeeligible.

Summary
The Certified Medication Technician is responsible for administering medications to designated residents in a safe and organized manner. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting with medications, documentation of medication assistance, and resident care. The Certified Medication Technician must have strong communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with the resident, the resident's family and all team members. She/ he must be able to observe and report changes in the resident's physical condition or behavior. She /he also carries out all other duties of a Resident Assistant.
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00 per hour based on skills and experience. This position is non-exempt and overtime eligible.
Responsible for:
  • Ensure that the attainment of Victory Housing, Inc. Mission Statement takes precedence over all decisions and actions
  • Adheres to all Victory Housing policies and procedures, COMAR 10.07.14 regulations as well as County, State and Federal guidelines including by limited to DOH, CDC, CMS, and OSHA
  • At all times, implements universal precautions and infectious disease control protocols. Wear assigned PPE appropriately per policy and as requested
  • Complete all assigned training including initial orientation, COMAR 10.07.14 requirements, monthly in-services, HIPAA, VHI required personal care and skills modules. Participates in required safety and disaster drills as assigned and mandated
  • Coordinates with Registered Nurse/LPN on all matters relating to the Clinical Program and Medication Delivery System
  • Read and document pertinent and objective information in the Communication Log for Resident updates, status changes and/or observations
  • Administer Medications and Treatments utilizing the EMAR platform. Administration includes: Prepare appropriate medication for med-pass (with attention to the following):
  • * Correct drug
  • * Correct resident
  • * Correct route
  • * Correct dosage
  • * Correct time
  • * Right Charting

  • Ensure medications are not expired
  • Bring medications to Resident in either suite or common areas in a discrete approved location. (No meds passed in dining room, living room etc.)
  • Ensure confidentiality of Resident medication among other Residents, Visitors, Volunteers etc
  • Check photo of Resident or ask name prior to administering medication
  • Offer water, juice and/or apple sauce (if prescribed by PCP/NP) with medications. Make sure to observe each Resident swallowing medication
  • Document completion of Resident medication administration in EMR. In the event the system is down, neatly document the med-pass on the paper MAR immediately after each pass
  • Document legibly Resident concerns made during med- pass
  • In the event a Resident refuses to take prescribed medication, document the file and immediately report to the Health, Wellness Delegating RN/LPN/Coordinator
  • Answer Resident questions or concerns regarding medications
  • Upon completion of medication pass, return all non-dispensed medication to the cart. Lock the cart
  • Wash hands before and after medication pass or whenever medication comes in contact with your hands. Adhere to Universal Precautions when administering all medications. Hand sanitizer may be used in lieu of washing hands if hands are not soiled
  • Prepare Resident's medications to accompany them on short-term absences from the Community. Document medication record legibly
  • Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of medication cart and Wellness Center
  • Restock medication cart with cups and spoons after medication pass is completed
  • Adhere to narcotics count policy. Count, verify, sign and date the two check narcotics count at the beginning and completion of each shift
  • If Health, Wellness Delegating RN/LPN/Coordinator is not at Community, assist with medication delivery by pharmacy. Report any discrepancies to the Delegating RN/LPN/Coordinator
  • Assist with Resident care and physical support. This may include assistance after a fall; assistance from bed, bath, or shower; assistance with toileting; assistance during an emergency evacuation, etc
  • Initiate and complete incident reports per policy and procedure
  • Promote the concept of dignity for all Residents and support the team in creatively meeting Resident needs
  • Promote working together through sharing responsibilities and information with the Management, Clinical and Care Teams
  • Ensure quality of care. Set standards and create a sense of security for the Residents
  • Communicate with the Health, Wellness Delegating RN/LPN/Coordinator regarding all Resident health care and wellness issues
  • Serve meals in the dining room with the utmost attention to hospitality and customer service. If required, deliver meals on a well-appointed tray to resident in their suite

  • Responsibilities in the dining room include:

  • Wheelchairs are not permitted in dining room. Residents are to be walked to dining room table and assisted into their chair
  • Set tables according to posted diagram. Make sure all condiments, butter, creamers, jellies are on each table
  • Have beverage stand prepared and ready to pour
  • Have tray stands strategically placed in dining room and ready to serve from per Victory Housing policies and procedures
  • Check to guarantee all residents are in dining room prior to starting meal service; locate and assist residents to dining room as necessary
  • Assist in serving meals according to serving pattern or assigned tables. Greet residents and request their choice and portion size for the meal
  • All meals are to be served at safe and allowable temperature, covered and in compliance with safe food handling practices
  • Be available to bring seconds if requested or to assist with individual needs such as cutting of meat
  • Offer beverage refills throughout each meal. Hydration is critical
  • Clear dishes as residents finish each course
  • Offer diabetic desserts if appropriate
  • Ensure a safe environment by following safety procedures for:
  • lifting and transferring
  • smoking
  • fire and disaster
  • report of unsafe and/or unsanitary conditions
  • completing accident reports when appropriate
  • storage of chemicals
  • following proper infection control techniques
  • assisting housekeeping personnel as needed
  • reporting any equipment malfunction to appropriate party

  • Maintain good public relations through positive and professional attitude at all times
  • Work closely with your co-workers to support the team. Maintain a happy and supportive atmosphere through music, smiles and a helping hand
  • Attend monthly Staff Meetings and scheduled training sessions
  • Answer help and call bells within 3 minutes maximum and take prompt action
  • Assist in answering incoming telephone calls in a professional manner
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor
