Job description

As the only aerial tramway in Southeast Alaska, guests at the Goldbelt Tram are invited to soar to new heights in scenic adventure aboard Juneau's top attraction. We offer locals and visitors an opportunity to experience breathtaking Alaska scenery, explore the miles of trails atop Mount Roberts, and learn more about Alaska Native culture.

Summary

Responsible for providing tour and local visitor information and assistance and oversees efforts to prevent the public from becoming nonpaying riders. There are full-time and part-time roles available.

We're excited to share that the job is based in beautiful Juneau, Alaska! We kindly ask that all applicants either live in Juneau or be open to relocating at their own expense.

Pay and Benefits:

Seasonal Employees are eligible for the Seasonal Employee Layoff Bonus Plan. The plan is designed to provide an effective means to motivate and compensate eligible seasonal employees during the term of their assignment. However, Goldbelt, Inc. may, in certain limited circumstances, grant discretionary performance bonuses outside of this program, in the sole discretion of the Company.

Goldbelt, Inc. hopes that by providing short-term incentive compensation, this will motivate and increase the retention rate among its employees which in turn will enhance Goldbelt Inc.'s long-term value.

Starting Rate: $15.00 - DOE

Necessary Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to meet time and attendance requirements.
  • Ability to work all different shifts including holidays and weekends.
  • Ability to attend scheduled meetings, orientations and training sessions.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to learn, understand, and follow oral and written instructions/directions.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees.
  • Ability to work directly with the public, providing information and assistance on a daily basis.
  • Ability/willingness to learn and pass on to guests those areas of interest to visitors, such as local history, people, culture, geography, etc

Minimum Qualifications (education, experience, skills)

  • Hiring for attitude, will train for skills.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check.

Preferrred Qualifications (education, experience, skills)

  • Current CPR Certification and First Aid training or the ability to obtain within 30-days.
  • Drug testing may be required.
  • Previous experience working in the visitor or hospitality industry or other customer service related field.

Job Duties

  • Ensure that each customer receives prompt and. courteous service
  • People-oriented and able to provide superior customer service.
  • Display a positive attitude that is contagious, speaking highly of the company in the presence of customers or other associates.
  • Maintain an excellent customer service level to all incoming and outgoing cruise ship, special group or local passengers, meets and greets all potential tramway guests; provides tram and visitor information; gives directions to the viewing areas, gift shops, restaurant, and other locations; explains the details of the full tramway experience.
  • At the lower terminal, provides highest level of customer service to all guests, explaining the various products or services available for purchase within the aerial tramway, including tramway transportation, theater viewing, restaurant products, etc.; collects (and counts at end of shift) vouchers; verifies purchased tickets before guests get onto the tramway cabins and depart.
  • Must be able to read and accurately exchange cruise ship vouchers for correct tram tickets or other tours.
  • Must be able to function under pressure during peak visitor hours and greet each guest as if they were your first guest of the day.
  • Requires repetitive, consistent process of scanning, punching tickets and stamping wrists to validate the guests visit.
  • Constantly applies effective practices and techniques of providing excellent customer service to all incoming and outgoing passengers; seeks and follows advice provided by Lead Host or Lead Ticket Agent in improving customer service skills and becoming more familiar with tour and visitor information.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
