What is a part time counsel?

Part-time counsel are legal professionals, such as attorneys or lawyers, who work for a company, organization, or law firm on a part-time basis rather than full-time. They provide legal advice, draft and review documents, and represent clients, but typically have a reduced workload or flexible schedule compared to full-time counsel. Part-time counsel positions can be beneficial for both employers, who gain access to legal expertise without the commitment of a full-time hire, and for lawyers seeking a better work-life balance. These roles are common in small businesses, non-profits, or organizations with limited legal needs.

How does a part time counsel typically balance multiple clients or projects within limited working hours?

As a Part Time Counsel, you will often need to manage several clients or legal matters concurrently, making effective time management essential. The role usually requires clear communication with clients and colleagues to set expectations regarding availability and deadlines. You may work independently or as part of a legal team, collaborating virtually or in-person to deliver timely legal advice. Flexibility and strong organizational skills are key to successfully handling the variety of tasks that may arise within a reduced schedule.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time counsel, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Counsel, you need a Juris Doctor (JD) degree, bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction, and solid legal research and advisory skills. Familiarity with legal research databases (like Westlaw or LexisNexis), document management systems, and regulatory compliance tools is common. Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving abilities help you effectively juggle cases and provide sound legal advice on a flexible schedule. These skills and qualities ensure you can deliver high-quality legal services efficiently, even with limited hours or multiple clients.

This opportunity is for elite lawyers who want to help shape how advanced AI is trained, evaluated, and applied in real-world legal work, especially those who have deep experience with drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and redlining within the tech field.

  5. Experience working with cross-disciplinary teams in fast-paced environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Prior exposure to AI, legal tech, or training initiatives.
  2. Experience at a corporate law firm in either M&A or fund formation for private equity firms.

Why Join:
