Job description

Job Title: Cost Estimator (Remote – Part-Time)

Location: Remote

Job Type: Part-Time (approx. 66 hours/year)

Project Duration: 5 Years


Job Summary: We are seeking a qualified Cost Estimator to serve as key personnel for a construction project (commercial or Govt - WWTP experience preferred). This is a long-term, part-time remote position requiring approximately 66 hours of work per year over a five-year project duration. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction cost estimating and be proficient in industry-standard estimating software.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed independent cost estimates for construction changes.
  • Evaluate and analyze contractor change proposals.
  • Perform comprehensive analysis of labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and indirect costs, as well as overhead, profit, escalation, and contingency.
  • Thoroughly document the basis of estimates, including all assumptions, quantities, and sources.
  • Reconcile significant differences in cost data and estimates.
  • Provide critical support during negotiations and prepare written price-analysis or negotiation-support documentation.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of relevant construction-cost-estimating experience.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency with construction-estimating software or databases, such as RSMeans, Sage Estimating, PlanSwift, or an equivalent system.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of construction components, including subcontractor management and indirect-cost analysis.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to prepare professional documentation that supports complex negotiations and reconciliations
