Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions-

  • Provide support for the Welding Technology program: lab set-up, student supervision, and enforcement of safety procedures.
  • Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Supervise tool room organization as well as all special tools and hand tools.
  • Build instructional training aids and prepare instructional materials.
  • Maintain inventory of parts, lab consumables, classroom and lab supplies.
  • Order, receive, check in, and put away consumable instructional supply inventory.
  • Be aware of and be able to always maintain applicable shop and lab safety standards.
  • Coordinate logistics of scheduling equipment for labs and transportation of equipment as needed between main campus and other locations the program is offered.
  • Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
  • Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures, and practices.

Secondary -

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Program Coordinator and/or Department II Chairpersons.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's degree preferred, work experience in the welding industry required.
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Current Commercial Drivers License (CDL) or the ability to obtain a CDL.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to supervise students, and answer questions on lab projects
  • Ability to read and follow directions and to comprehend basic instructions about the position
  • Be familiar with and able to operate common welding and fabrication equipment
  • Be an effective team member with excellent communication skills
  • Physical requirements include a substantial amount of standing; the ability to lift 60 - 70 lbs.; the ability to work in a hazardous environment; ability to safely operate shop and industrial equipment including forklift, press brake, shear, plate roll, welders etc.; excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills; the ability to understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; visual acuity to view a computer terminal; use appropriate judgment and apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; heavy/indoor work environment.
  • Mental requirements include the ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position.
  • Physical and mental qualifications must be achieved with or without reasonable accommodation.

HOURLY WAGE and STATUS:

The hourly rate of pay is commensurate with qualifications as determined by HutchCC administration. This part-time staff position is 12 months annual, with an average of less than 29 hours per week during the work agreement period, nonexempt and at-will. This position is KPERS eligible but does not qualify for additional benefits.
