Job description

POSITION: Reference Librarian (Part-time)

DEPARTMENT: University Library

REPORTS TO: Associate Librarian

WORK SCHEDULE: Fully on campus

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Position is responsible for providing reference services, library instruction, collection development, producing library material, and assisting in other library related projects.

This position provides scheduled reference hours & library instruction, electronic journal subscriptions maintenance, collection development, statistical analysis.

Qualifications:

  • MLS from an ALA accredited program or enrolled in an accredited MLS program
  • Library research techniques
  • Knowledge of library organization principles
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of current reference and instruction tools
  • Supervisory skills
  • Knowledge of personal computers and electronic resources

Duties:

  1. Provide reference services and information about the library's collections, services, and policies
  2. Conduct library instruction sessions
  3. Assist in statistical analysis of library usage
  4. Collection Development
  5. General circulation operations
  6. Produce library promotional and instructional material
  7. Supporting library staff in such services as reciprocal borrowing, acquisitions, and cataloging
  8. Supervising student workers
  9. Other library-related duties as assigned.
