Ansonia Public Schools is looking for a Part-time School Climate Advisor at AMS
TITLE: Student Support/School Climate Advisor Part-Time
Reports to: Building Principal
EMPLOYEE QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Experience working with students in the grade levels served by the school. Must have at least an associate's degree, although a bachelor's degree is preferred.
  2. Ability to work effectively with students, staff, administrators and parents.
  3. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Possesses the ability to relate to students with behavioral problems.
  5. Demonstrates effective problem solving, organizational skills, planning, record keeping and computer literacy skills.
  6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education or the Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

JOB GOALS:
  • To support the school administration in its mission to create and maintain a positive school climate.
  • To provide support, as requested, for a positive and structured in-school Student Support Center where students can address factors causing disciplinary issues such as time management, organization and study skills, and/or feelings of disconnection from the larger student body.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
  1. Works in conjunction with the School Climate Advisor and attendance staff to input student discipline information into the appropriate computer-based program in order to maintain accurate records of student behavior and attendance.
  2. Responsible for assisting other school staff during lunch to promote a positive school climate.
  3. Assists with structured activities for students during recess.
  4. Works collaboratively in developing schedules, routines, and coverage for the cafeteria, recess and student support center.
  5. Consults with faculty, administrators and other special services personnel on student behavioral issues.
  6. Maintains records related to the Student Support Center and inputs student discipline information into the appropriate computer-based program.
  7. Additional responsibilities as determined by the building administrator.

19.5 Hours per week.
