Job description

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Slot Manager, thePart-Time/Casual Cleaner is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall appearance of Red Deer Resort & Casino. This position is responsible for cleaning guest and public areas, offices, staff areas, washrooms, meeting rooms, casino support areas, and other assigned locations to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for guests and employees. The Cleaner promotes a positive image of Red Deer Resort & Casino by providing professional, courteous, and efficient service while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize assigned areas, including public washrooms, offices, hallways, stairwells, staff areas, guest areas, and other designated spaces.
  • Sweep, vacuum, mop, dust, polish, and disinfect floors, furniture, fixtures, and surfaces.
  • Empty garbage and recycling containers and replace liners as required.
  • Replenish restroom and cleaning supplies, including soap, paper towels, toilet tissue, and other consumables.
  • Ensure all assigned areas are maintained in a clean, safe, and hygienic condition at all times.
  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment safely and report any equipment malfunctions to the Supervisor.
  • Pack and replenish cleaning carts and supplies at the end of each shift, ensuring carts remain clean, organized, and fully stocked.
  • Report maintenance issues, damaged property, or safety hazards promptly to the Supervisor/Manager.
  • Respond to guest and employee requests courteously and professionally.
  • Record and submit lost and found items according to established procedures.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safe handling procedures.
  • Follow all health, safety, sanitation, and workplace policies and procedures.
  • Attend departmental meetings, training sessions, and safety briefings as directed.
  • Report any suspicious persons or activities to the Supervisor/Manager to help ensure the safety and security of guests and staff.
  • Maintain assigned storage and cleaning areas in a neat and organized condition.
  • Ensure all cleaning duties are completed according to departmental standards and schedules.
  • The immediate Supervisor/Manager may change your role and responsibilities based on operational requirements.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Education, Qualifications and Requirements

  • Must be able to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
  • Previous commercial or hospitality cleaning experience is considered an asset.
  • Physically able to perform the essential duties of the position.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) certification is considered an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and quality.
  • Highly flexible with strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English.
  • Comfortable using commercial cleaning equipment and chemicals safely.
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive team attitude.
  • First Aid/CPR certification is considered an asset.


Work Environment

  • Able to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to heat, cold, water, dust, dirt, and commercial cleaning chemicals.
  • May work in a noisy or distracting environment during busy operational periods.
  • Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.


Hours of Work

This position is available as Part-Time or Casual. Hours of work will vary based on operational requirements and may include early mornings, evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and statutory holidays.
