Job description

First Choice Health Centers is looking for a Part-Time Medical Assistant to work alongside our Clinical and Operations team with providing direct care services including patient engagement and care coordination within the communities of East Hartford, Manchester, and Vernon. This position is accountable for independently performing a full range of tasks in delivery of patient care in an outpatient setting. In this position the Part-Time Medical Assistant acts as a float; work location is subject to change frequently based on staffing needs. Part-Time hours: 20-24 hours per week

Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Experience with an electronic health record
  • Knowledge of medical terminology

Experience and Training:

  • Graduate of an Accredited Medical Assistant Program
  • Certified Medical Assistant is a plus
  • 5 + years of MA or CNA experience
  • BLS Certification

Standard Job Duties:

  • Act as a member of the care team, including preparing patients to be seen by collecting and recording clinical information as per process, responding to patient phone calls and documenting patient interactions
  • Manage patients according to approved protocols and consistent with appointment and scheduling guidelines
  • Document all patient interactions and other clinical activities accurately and timely in the electronic health record
  • Schedule tests, treatments and follow up visits on behalf of patients, assist patients with identifying suitable outside resources and other services where appropriate
  • Monitor task list (telephone encounters) in order to respond in a timely manner, follow up on overdue orders and monitor status of critical referrals
  • Adhere to all patient safety standards and infection control guidelines
  • Assist care team to assure smooth office operation and delivery of excellent service through teamwork.
