JOB LOCATION:
Endocrine Engagement Center - 4825 Creekstone Drive, Durham, NC
*Once fully oriented, this work can be done as a hybrid model. This means a rotating schedule of working remotely and from the office.
JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a part time Certified Medical Assistant in our Nephrology Engagement Center clinic located in Durham, NC. The Certified Medical Assistant performs routine administrative and patient care supportive duties in a Health System remote practice that assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensure the clinic/office runs smoothly.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform telephone message taking with patients, document encounter, follow protocols and escalation plans established by clinic leadership
  • Manage telephone calls and in basket messages within scope.
  • Forms management
  • Participates in performance improvement projects.
  • Obtain prior authorizations for medications and durable medical equipment as indicated.

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred.
  • High school or GED graduation required.
  • Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required. Please indicate on resume which certification you have, the certification number, and expiration date.
  • BLS required
  • Level I -- No experience required.
  • Level II -- 1 year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified in a clinical setting.

JOB HOURS:
Hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. No weekends or Duke designated holidays.
