JOB SUMMARY

Driving responsibilities involve delivery/pick up, reporting, operations, service, safety and maintenance, and other duties as assigned by management. The truck driver will maintain a positive attitude that promotes teamwork within the company and a favorable image of the company. When performing warehouse duties under the Supervision of the Warehouse Manager, will perform material receiving; order processing; use of company ERP System; product packaging for shipment to ensure error-free packaging; efficient loading and unloading of trucks. Verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing inventory. This position is classified as a Safety Sensitive Position due to the work environment and equipment utilized by staff.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Driver

  • Deliver/Pick-up
  • Assist in loading cargo as necessary.
  • Conduct Pre-trip inspection and complete paperwork.
  • Inspect freight, paperwork, and vehicle for compliance with regulations.
  • Check fuel and oil level before leaving.
  • Ensure cargo is well secured and not damaged.
  • Deliver the cargo in the most efficient and safest manner possible.
  • Ensure accuracy of the invoice and order before unloading.
  • Unload and/or assist in unloading cargo at the respective customer locations.
  • Assist in loading cargo as necessary from customers.
  • Collect COD payments as required.
  • Reporting
  • Report any discrepancies in vehicle, cargo, or paperwork to your supervisor prior to leaving.
  • Complete all DOT regulated paperwork as required.
  • Report any customer complaints or refusals to your supervisor.
  • Return all required documentation to the company daily to include but not limited to: signed delivery receipts, pick up slips, driver’s logs, pre-trip inspection sheets.
  • Service
  • Greet customers promptly and courteously.
  • Assist customers with unloading and loading cargo as necessary.
  • Actively work to increase personal skills and product knowledge.
  • Maintain a neat appearance.
  • Safety and Maintenance
  • Operate the vehicle safely.
  • Obey all traffic laws, including proper use of Electronic Log Device [ELD]
  • Follow FMCSA Clearinghouse Regulations
  • Allow no riders except those approved by your supervisor.

Warehouse

  • Unload incoming trucks and move products to proper staging areas using a forklift, pallet jack or crane.
  • Receive incoming materials and compare information on packing slip with purchase orders, invoices, or other documents to verify accuracy of shipment.
  • Prepare orders for shipment by retrieving inventory and packaging appropriately for damage free delivery.
  • Maintain a neat and clean work area by sweeping floors, disposing of cardboard, banding, or packing materials, and removing debris.
  • Perform related duties as requested to meet department and/or business objectives.
  • After training, use equipment to accurately measure materials, color code, catalog, log inventory, and put product away.
  • With training, may operate industrial cutting equipment to cut materials as requested and perform miscellaneous duties as assigned
  • After training, when required, may operate a non-CDL F450 truck for delivery, to meet production needs.
  • Regular and reliable on-site attendance is a requirement of employment.


Requirements:

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

  • Valid NY State CDL A or B driver’s license required.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid DOT Medical Certification.
  • Valid Real ID or eligible identification proof may be mandatory based on customer requirements for specific delivery territories.
  • Registration on FMCSA Clearinghouse and knowledge of State/Federal transport regulations.
  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalent strongly preferred.
  • Competent driving skills with one year of driving experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of vehicles and all their parts.
  • Mathematical ability to sort, check, count, measure, and verify numbers and or product shipped or received.
  • Demonstrated computer skills in the use of the company ERP System as required.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment after training.
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork and perform math calculations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Contribute to the overall success of the company by performing all assigned duties in a professional, timely and accurate manner.
  • Follow all Company safety policies and procedures set forth in the Employee Handbook, Safety Policies, and any local/regional/state/national regulations.

EQUIPMENT, MACHINES AND SOFTWARE USED:

  • Ability to operate industrial fork trucks/lifts, overhead crane, back saw, and computer to send/receive email messages, post information to a database, and perform basic email and/or data entry in ERP System.
  • Accurately read calipers and measuring instruments determine inventory amounts and customer requirements. With training ability to machinery (saw and/or lathe).
  • You must wear appropriate personal protective equipment including safety shoes, gloves, and safety glasses when performing certain job duties.


MENTAL AND VISUAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Moderate mental and visual attention required for performing manual work, machine operations, setups, inspections, and adjustments that require frequent decisions to detect and adjust for variance from proper operation.
  • May be required to operate equipment in congested areas involving considerable variety of movement.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability with or without reasonable accommodation performs the physical requirements of the job which include but are not limited to walking, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motion of hands and/or wrists to finger, grasp, handle, feel, push, pull, reach.
  • Visual acuity to perform inspection of materials, reading of caliper and other measuring devices and operating motorized material handling equipment.
  • Ability to exert more than 20 pounds of force constantly, and/or more than 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 100 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

  • Work involves minimal exposure to unusual elements, such as temperature changes, outdoor exposure to weather conditions, fumes, odors, gases, mists, and/or smoke, oils and/or lubricating fluids. (SDS sheets on file and available for review).
  • Work environment involves exposure to physical risks, such as operating dangerous equipment and proximity to moving mechanical parts.

COMPENSATION

  • The hourly range is $19.00/hour wage up to $27.50/hour, plus discretionary incentive.
