Job description

National Airlines, based in Orlando, FL, operates passenger charter service as well as customized military and commercial air cargo carriage worldwide. National Airlines specializes in over-sized, time sensitive, and special handling requirements, utilizing 747-400 and A-330 aircraft to accomplish its missions.
Job Title: AOG Technician
Location: Orlando, FL
Department: Maintenance
Reports To: Line Maintenance Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary: Inspects, modifies, and repairs aircraft at the maintenance base and remote locations. Troubleshoots technical discrepancies and executes repairs of company aircraft. Provides guidance to the entry level mechanics/onsite contract mechanics on basic tasks and troubleshooting. Proficient in the use of electronic test equipment, voltage/amperage measuring, recording devices and navigation of troubleshooting equipment.
Essential Functions:
  • Troubleshoot technical discrepancies and execute repair of company aircraft
  • Accomplish aircraft inspections per company procedures
  • Proficient in use of electronic test equipment, voltage or amperage measuring, recording devices and navigation troubleshooting equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics and technical orders
  • Inspect and assist in maintenance of company equipment and tooling
  • Work as a member of a team that will interface with contract and company maintenance personnel
  • Follow safety measures, good shop practices and cleanliness standards
  • Proper use of PPE and safety management procedures
  • Communicate discrepancies to Maintenance Control department found during inspections and follow directions to troubleshoot and repair faulty conditions
  • Ensure that all aircraft documentation is completed accurately per company and FAA procedures prior to aircraft departure
  • Providing guidance to mechanics on advanced tasks
  • Coordinate materials and tooling requirements for projected work for entire shift
  • Perform Manual and Aircraft parts inventories as required
  • Assist other company departments to ensure on-time departure of company aircraft
  • Learning and understanding AMOS maintenance management systems
  • Additional duties assigned

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5+ years of transport category aircraft maintenance experience (Boeing series aircraft - preferred) 777 747-400, 747-800, A330-200 Gen Fam
  • Formal training on advanced systems/avionics on 777 & 747-400 aircraft
  • Formal training on advanced systems/avionics on GE CF6 & PW4000 Engines
  • Possess basic skills on composite & sheet metal repairs (Advanced skills preferred)

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess valid passport and be able to travel for AOG recovery and special projects regularly
  • Must possess valid driver's license
  • Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant Certificate

Skills:
  • Must be able to read, write, fluently speak and understand the English language
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft software and in use of digital manuals
  • Strong work ethic and organizational skills
  • Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions
  • Ability to lift parts 50+ lbs. and equipment
  • Possess the ability to operate required equipment (forklift, manlift, hoists etc.)
  • Able to work rotating schedules to include weekends, nights and holidays
