Join Logistec as a Part Time Equipment Operator and play a hands-on role in keeping terminal operations moving. In this exciting position, you'll operate heavy equipment to safely and efficiently move cargo, materials, and supplies throughout the terminal. Responsibilities
What your looks like as Equipment Operator:
  • Operate Forklifts with Precision: Safely operate various types of forklifts (e.g., counterbalance, reach trucks, container handlers) to load, unload, and transport cargo between vessels, docks, and storage areas.
  • Efficient Cargo Handling: Manage a wide range of cargo including containers, pallets, bulk materials, and equipment ensuring proper placement, balance, and securement according to loading plans.
  • Safety First Mindset: Strictly follow all safety protocols, maritime regulations, and company procedures to protect personnel, cargo, and equipment at all times.
  • Equipment Inspections & Upkeep: Perform pre-operational inspections and routine checks on forklifts; promptly report maintenance or repair needs to ensure equipment reliability.
  • Team Communication & Coordination: Collaborate effectively with vessel crews, dock personnel, and fellow operators using radios, hand signals, and other communication tools to maintain smooth operations.
  • Accurate Documentation: Maintain detailed records of cargo movements, operational logs, and equipment usage to support compliance and operational tracking.
  • Emergency Readiness: Respond quickly and appropriately to equipment malfunctions or emergency situations, following established procedures and escalating when needed.
  • Environmental Responsibility: Adhere to environmental regulations and best practices, including proper waste handling and pollution prevention during all operations.

Qualifications
To succeed as Equipment Operator you must have:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of forklift operating experience (marine terminal or heavy industrial environment preferred)
  • Experience handling large, irregular, or high-value cargo is a plus
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC card to gain access to secure port facilities and faster onboarding
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, production-driven environments
  • Must be flexible with scheduling, as this is a 24/7 operation with rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to operate additional equipment such as reach stackers, top handlers, or yard trucks
