Job description

Tulsa City-County Library is seeking a customer service-oriented individual to join our team at one of our newest libraries, Bronson Brookside Library. This location has 15,000 square feet of space for customers to enjoy their next great read, book an activity room, participate in a program on the patio, or swing by the drive through and pick up their holds. The best qualified candidates will demonstrate a passion for serving the Brookside community, be able to adapt to change quickly, and deliver customers with a superior experience by providing information about library services and circulation policies. Customer Service Assistants also sort and route library materials to proper locations and help check out or return materials. This position is key to ensuring customers have a pleasant and engaged visit, and look forward to coming back time and time again!
Location: Brookside Library - 1207 E 45th Place Tulsa, OK. 74105
Salary: $14.42/hr.
Status: Part Time - 20 hours / week
Schedule:
Monday: 4pm to 8pm
Tuesday: 1pm to 5pm
Wednesday: 4pm to 8pm
Thursday: 4pm to 8pm
Friday: 1pm to 5pm
Other qualifications will include:
  • Previous experience serving customers in a retail or hospitality setting;
  • Demonstrated ability to de-escalate sensitive situations;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to read and perform alphabetic and numeric sorting and filing;
  • Ability to help customers with their basic computer needs, including e-mail, answering Microsoft product questions, and navigating the Internet;
  • Ability to learn and demonstrate libraryโ€™s automated systems and self-service tools;
  • Ability to operate audio-visual equipment, smart phones, mobile devices, computer hardware and software, and quickly learn new databases and consumer devices including (and not limited to) e-readers, tablets and personal computers;
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required.

Physical and Environmental Conditions:

For most positions work regularly requires stooping, bending and light lifting such as three or four reams of paper, four or five books, or other materials (up to 20 pounds). Some positions require moderate physical exertion, such as regularly lifting moderately heavy items (up to 40 pounds) such as crates full of books or pushing heavy (up to 100 pounds) wheeled carts full of books, on a highly frequent basis and/or assuming awkward positions.
