General Summary

The Branch Banker (BB) I is responsible for accurately and efficiently processing customer transactions over the counter, through the drive-thru, and over the phone while recognizing and educating customers on the products and services that are offered. The BB processes deposits and withdrawals, checks, official and counter checks, fields general account inquiries, in addition to conducting general maintenance for customers. Branch Bankers will also participate in daily balancing operations, which includes branch ATM, and branch vault, and the verification of coin machines and bags, night deposits, and deposits via mail. All duties must be handled professionally and courteously as is consistent with the service excellence expected from Middletown Valley Bank employees.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Process customer transactions and requests accurately and efficiently, including transactions for coin machines and coin bags, night deposits, and deposits via mail.
  • Provides account services to customers such as receiving deposits and loan payments, cashing checks, and completing withdrawals.
  • Actively work with the Senior Branch Banker and/or Relationship Banker(s) to understand and recognize the basics and importance of educating customers on the products and services offered.
  • Assist with customer referrals and/or basic customer procedural questions.
  • Actively refer customers to the Relationship Banker(s), Branch Manager, and/or branch business partners for MVB products and services.
  • Assist with the completion of the daily balancing operations including cash drawers, branch vault cash, and branch ATM.
  • Complete general maintenance on equipment such as coin machines, workstations, check scanners, and ATMs as required.
  • Maintain customer confidence and protect bank operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Build relationships with customers through phone conversations.
  • Provide Online Banking Support to customers.
  • Represent the bank professionally and courteously, consistent with the excellent customer service standards of Middletown Valley Bank.
  • Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the bank's compliance with all regulatory requirements, e.g. Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act, etc.
  • Support and participate in community activities and initiatives.
  • Other duties necessary to meet business objectives.

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous customer service, sales, or cash handling experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of retail banking products and the ability to cross-sell financial products.
  • Adaptable in an ever-changing technological and regulatory environment.

  • Ability to logically prioritize tasks while operating in a team environment.
  • Flexibility in schedule sufficient to work days, evenings, or Saturdays.
