Job description

STS Line Maintenance is hiring an Aviation Material Specialist in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to support daily aircraft maintenance operations through accurate material handling, inventory control and parts distribution.
This position is responsible for receiving, identifying, storing, issuing and delivering aircraft parts and materials while maintaining accurate records within the M&E system. The Aviation Material Specialist will also support HAZMAT handling requirements, stock transfers and inventory management for the Philadelphia line maintenance station.
Position Overview
The Aviation Material Specialist supports maintenance teams by ensuring required aircraft parts, supplies and materials are received, tracked, stored and delivered accurately.
This role requires previous material handling experience, strong organizational skills and the flexibility to work changing schedules, including nights, weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities
  • Ship, receive and store HAZMAT materials
  • Complete required HAZMAT certification during the initial training period
  • Record incoming and outgoing parts and assemblies accurately
  • Receive, tag, identify, handle and sort aircraft parts
  • Issue and deliver parts to aircraft as required
  • Maintain the M&E system and ensure records remain current
  • Report system inconsistencies to the appropriate supervisor
  • Maintain required inventory levels of supplies and solvents
  • Perform stock transfers between locations
  • Physically move inventory as required
  • Receive and issue parts through the M&E system
  • Support accurate inventory control and material tracking
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the Stores Supervisor, Stores Manager or designee

Qualifications
  • Previous material handling experience required
  • Experience receiving, identifying, tagging and sorting parts
  • Ability to issue and deliver parts to aircraft
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in a team environment
  • Ability to read and understand company and manufacturer manuals
  • Flexibility to work overtime and weekends when required
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays
  • Must meet attendance requirements
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including day and midnight schedules
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Clean driving record required
  • Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record check
  • Ability to pass required background screening
  • Ability to obtain required airport access and badging

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience managing HAZMAT materials
  • Trax experience

Additional Requirements
  • Must be able to work varying schedules based on operational needs
  • Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, stairs and work stands without assistance
  • Must be able to bend, kneel, crawl and stoop frequently in confined spaces
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds unassisted
  • Must be willing to work in changing climate conditions
  • Must be able to work in an environment with moderate noise levels
  • Must be able to perform assigned duties safely and effectively
  • Must own and provide a minimum set of hand tools
  • Candidates may be required to complete a phone screen and onsite interview

Rate of Pay
Pay ranges from $17 to $18 per hour based on previous experience.
