Job description

Do you have automotive experience? Are you looking to startyour career in the automotive field or supplement your retirement? We areseeking a reliable, team-oriented Automotive Technician tojoin our team in a temporary part time position.

This is a part-time position and is scheduled Monday -Fridays ONLY with a total of 20 hours per week-no nights or weekends required!

As an Automotive Technician with our FleetOperations Division, you will join a team of highly trained, certifiedprofessionals responsible for maintaining and repairing more than 1,200County-owned vehicles. Our diverse fleet supports administrativestaff, EMS, Sheriff's Office, emergency response teams, and numerous servicedepartments. In this role, your expertise will help ensure vehiclereliability, maximize uptime, and support vital County operations.
In this position, you will be supporting our motor pool andvehicle maintenance teams. You will be tasked with the daily logistics oftransporting motor pool vehicles to repair facilities where vehicle detailingand maintenance will be completed.  Youwill use your mechanical repair skills to perform preventivemaintenance and provide high-quality service for our customers. You'll workalongside supportive coworkers and supervisors who value collaboration, safety,and continuous improvement.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Vehicle detailing and transporting.
  • Perform automotive repairs including tire replacement, oil changes, bulb replacement, battery service, and brake repairs.
  • Utilize County-issued and personally owned tools as required to complete tasks.
  • Operate tools and equipment safely, independently, and efficiently.
  • Assist Senior Technicians with complex systems repairs such as engines, transmissions, HVAC, steering, electrical, body/chassis, exhaust, onboard diagnostics, and glass.
  • Assist in testing advanced electrical systems, emergency equipment, and diagnostic systems.
  • Apply workplace safety practices, including proper PPE usage, in compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Use computers and software applications to document time, materials, and work performed.
  • Demonstrate integrity, ethical conduct, and adherence to County policies.
  • Follow detailed instructions and apply sound judgment in daily tasks.
  • Provide excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal support to peers and customer


Please note: All Fleet Operations positionsare designated as essential. Employees are required to report during adverseweather or emergency situations to ensure critical equipment and servicesremain operational.
Becausethis is a safetysensitive role, a preemploymentdrug test and participation in the County's random drug testing program arerequired.
