Job description


The Automotive Machinist is responsible for completing work requested by customers in a timely and cost effective manner and to the specification given by the customer; may also perform miscellaneous duties as requested by the machine shop manager or store manager.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Recondition various parts such as heads and connecting rods, assisting with or performing crank, valve and flywheel grinding and the installation of valve seats, helicoils, sleeves and valve guides as requested by the customer
  • Operate various other shop machines as needed such as drills, lathes, mills and other shop had tools.
  • Perform miscellaneous shop tasks such as hydraulic hose repairs
  • Assist other team members as needed and works with other store team members towards the successful operation of the store and completions of store sales quotas and goals

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of one year of post-secondary technical training in Automotive Machining
  • Minimum of 2 years of automotive machining experience
  • Average verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively work with individuals at all levels including management, customers, vendors and co-workers
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Familiar with store and shop operating procedures
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
