Job Description
Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC), is seeking applicants for a Jira Administrator. This position will provide specialized technical administration and optimization for the organization's Jira Cloud enterprise instance. As our Jira Cloud footprint expands to include more departments across campus, this role is designed to manage the growing complexity of the platform and alleviate the administrative workload currently managed by the Server Administration team. The Jira Administrator will ensure the platform is scalable, secure, and optimized to meet the diverse needs of various campus stakeholders.
Pay:
$23-$25 an Hour Full-time (with benefits)
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (No weekends or holidays)
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 2 years to 4 years of experience of Server Administration with knowledge of:
    • Jira: ACP-620 - Managing Jira Projects for Cloud
    • JSM: Jira Service Management Agent Essentials

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • Experience in Atlassian Cloud Administration
  • Jira: ACP-120 - Jira Administration for Cloud
  • JSM: ACP-420 - Managing Jira Service Projects for Cloud

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and maintain the Jira Cloud enterprise instance, ensuring high availability and performance
  • Lead the onboarding of new departments and campus units into the existing Jira Cloud ecosystem
  • Configure and manage users, groups, roles, and permission schemes.
  • Optimize workflows, issue types, screens, and fields to meet departmental requirements
  • Collaborate with the Server Administration team to ensure seamless integration with existing IT infrastructure
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues related to Jira Cloud, Atlassian Access, and integrated apps
  • Develop and implement automation rules to streamline departmental processes

Essential Skills:
  • Proficiency in Jira Cloud Administration (Project, Workflow, Permission, and Notification schemes)
  • Experience with Atlassian Access and Organization management
  • Knowledge of Atlassian Marketplace apps and plugin management
  • Proficiency in Jira Automation and advanced querying (JQL)
  • Understanding of data security and access control best practices
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to translate complex technical requirements into functional Jira configurations
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with diverse campus stakeholders
  • Experience with API integrations and/or ScriptRunner (preferred)

Duties:
  • Perform regular audits of user access and permission configurations
  • Manage the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Jira add-ons/apps
  • Create and maintain standardized templates for new project requests
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for Jira configurations and processes
  • Monitor system performance and manage Atlassian Cloud usage/licensing
  • Assist departments in designing custom dashboards and reporting tools
  • Provide technical support and "how-to" guidance to power users and department leads
  • Analyze and resolve configuration conflicts during departmental migrations/onboarding

Other progressive duties may include:
  • Develop and execute a long-term roadmap for Jira Cloud scaling and feature adoption
  • Create training materials and conduct workshops for new campus users
  • Research and recommend new Atlassian products or integrations to improve campus productivity
  • Assist in the migration of legacy data or workflows from other platforms into Jira Cloud
  • Collaborate with campus leadership to establish governance policies for Jira usage
