Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job
The Department of Library Science and Technology seeks experienced industry professionals to join our adjunct faculty pool as online instructors for our undergraduate program in Learning Technologies. Successful candidates will translate substantial professional experience into practical and engaging instruction that prepares students for the instructional design and technology leaders. Delivers high-quality, asynchronous online instruction for undergraduate courses in Learning Technologies (BA LETE). Develops and facilitates a learning environment that helps students master the competencies required to design, develop, and evaluate effective, inclusive, technology-enhanced learning systems. Provides timely, substantive feedback and mentorship to a diverse population of traditional and non-traditional undergraduate students. Maintains regular communication with students and department leadership, adhering to all university guidelines for online instruction.
Educational Requirements for the Position
A terminal degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) or a Master's degree in Instructional Design, Learning Technologies, Instructional Systems, Library Science (MLIS), or a closely related field.
Experience Required for the Position
A minimum of ten (10) years of current, substantive professional experience in roles applying instructional design/technology principles. Relevant settings include corporate, government, higher education (including academic libraries), or other organizational environments. Demonstrated expertise in applying Instructional Systems Design and Technology principles to solve real-world learning and performance problems. Evidence of ability to teach effectively in an online, asynchronous format. This can include formal teaching, professional development facilitation, or structured mentorship.
Other Requirements for the Position
Current employment in a senior-level instructional design, learning technology, or related role (e.g., Instructional Librarian, Learning Development Specialist). Prior experience teaching or mentoring in a higher education or professional development setting. Portfolio of developed programs/technologies (screenshots, formal/informal samples, YouTube, description of design work)
