Organization's Summary Statement:
The Department of Communication invites applications for a part-time Lecturer position teaching undergraduate courses. This is a Professional Track, 9-month faculty appointment that may be renewed. A part-time teaching load is up to 2 undergraduate classes in the Fall and up to 2 undergraduate classes in the Spring.
We invite applications for lecturers in two categories:
1) In the Oral Communication Program to teach COMM107: Oral Communication Principles and Practices. COMM 107 is part of UMD's Undergraduate General Education offerings in Oral Communication. This course uses a standardized syllabus. This position will teach in-person classes at the University of Maryland, College Park.
2) In COMM classes that contribute to the undergraduate COMM major with expertise in Health and Science Communication, Media and Digital Communication, Political Communication and Public Advocacy, or Public Relations. This position will teach in-person classes at the University of Maryland, College Park and/or the University of Maryland, Shady Grove.
The Department of Communication is committed to producing innovative and influential scholarship, service to the discipline and community and leadership in the discipline and profession of communication. The Department of Communication's mission is to provide quality undergraduate and graduate student education that prepares B.A. and Ph.D. students to successfully enter their chosen careers in communication and related fields through our educational leadership in communication research, theory and practice. The department achieves this mission through the pursuit of communication for the public good.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Master's degree in Communication, Oral Communication, or closely related field. Ph.D. preferred.
Experience: 2 years teaching experience at the undergraduate level

Priority will be given to those with experience and expertise in using web-based platforms for managing course materials (e.g., ELMS, Blackboard, Canvas).
