THE POSITION
Part-time/on-call positions - No guarantee of hours.
Days in which operation occur is Tuesday, Thursday and Friday site operations occur in late morning to early afternoon. Recruitment is for our Yoncalla site. Positions may be asked to substitute at any of the dining sites as needed.
This position serves meals at Senior Center dining sites; orders meals and kitchen supplies from food service contractor; directs volunteers in setting up dining site meals, serving meals, cleanup of dining site and sanitation of kitchen; coordinates with building representative regarding maintenance and safety of building.
Essential Job Duties:
  • Supervises kitchen volunteers, assists in serving food.
  • Washing pots, pans, dishes, steam table, counters, equipment and floors.
  • Inventory supplies before and after each meal.
  • Assists public and other employees in answering routine questions and providing readily available information.
  • May utilize a cash box and make change.

Requires regular and consistent attendance.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Any combination of course work, experience and/or training that provides required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform duties of this position.
  • A Food Handler's Certificate must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Must possess a valid Oregon driver's license at time of appointment.

Physical Demands: Work is performed in a dining site facility typically noisy, crowded and in or near a kitchen environment. May require wearing gloves, bending, color identification, crouching, gripping with hands and fingers, hearing voice conversation, kneeling, occasionally lifting/carrying up to 60 pounds, pulling, pushing, reaching, sitting, standing long periods, stooping, twisting body, and walking while carrying objects and/or plated hot food. The work setting may include exposure to cleaners, dust, solvents, grease, water, pollen, and fumes.
Driving Requirements: Position requires driving. Finalist will be required to provide a driving history that meets the as part of contingent offer of employment.
SCREENING & EVALUATION
Background Investigation: While not part of initial applicant screening, the finalist for this position may be required to pass a criminal history background check as part of a contingent offer of employment. Conviction of a crime may not necessarily disqualify an individual from employment.
Physical Examination / Drug Screen: Employment is contingent upon a pre-employment drug screen. Presence of non-prescribed drugs, including marijuana, on drug screen results will result in disqualification pursuant to the County's drug and alcohol policy. To determine if physically qualified to perform essential functions, employment offer is conditional upon satisfactory results of a post-offer medical and hearing exam conducted at county expense.
