Job description

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Anatomy Faculty member to teach anatomy to a master level Physician Assistant (PA) programs.  The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in human anatomy and physiology, with the ability to translate anatomical concepts into clinical practice. This role requires expertise in surface anatomy, radiographic and ultrasound imaging, and cadaveric dissection. The position includes some online teaching responsibilities via Zoom, so familiarity with virtual instruction and digital engagement strategies is essential.

Responsibilities
  • Actively participates in the processes of:
  • providing student instruction,
  • evaluating student performance,
  • academic advising of students,
  • assuring the availability of remedial instruction,
  • designing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating curriculum.
  • Prepare course materials, assessments, and learning resources aligned with program and lecture objectives.
  • Integrate radiographic and ultrasound imaging into anatomy instruction to enhance clinical relevance.
  • Teach gross anatomy, surface anatomy, and clinical correlations to PA, Sonography and Rad Tech students.
  • For MSPAS/MPH Program:
  • Conduct cadaveric dissections, prepare pro-sections and guide students in hands-on laboratory sessions.
  • Coordinate and teach a 1.5 credit hour Overview of Anatomy course in August annually.
  • In systems-based modular curriculum, lead an anatomy lecture and lab for each medical system January - December annually.
  • Participate in the Student Promotions Committee as a voting member.
  • Mentor and advise students on academic and professional development.
  • Participate in curriculum development and continuous improvement initiatives of the college and related programs.
  • Engage in departmental meetings, committees, and accreditation activities.
  • Participate in scholarly, research, and service events
  • Participate in faculty development activities, retreats, and seminars.
  • Other opportunities for PA-LA and Doctor of Medical Science and Radiology Tech programs may exist in future.
QualificationsRequired:
  • Advanced degree in Anatomy, Physiology, or related biomedical science (PhD, MD, DO, PA, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience teaching anatomy in a health sciences program.
  • Proficiency in cadaveric dissection and clinical application of anatomy.
  • Familiarity with radiographic and ultrasound imaging techniques.
  • Ability to teach basic physiology concepts.
  • Competence in online teaching platforms, especially Zoom.
Preferred:
  • Prior teaching experience with medical students, PA and/or Radiology/Sonography students.
  • Experience integrating clinical cases into anatomy instruction.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with educational technologies, such as Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and anatomic tables.
