Description
DEFINITION:
This position supports public information and community outreach services, by creating and communicating internal and external digital communications, coordinating social media and video communications and representing the City of Grover Beach at community events.
Examples of Duties
The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.
  • Utilizes a variety of graphic software programs to design materials for use in brochures, newsletters, notices, forms, flyers and posters.
  • Promotes program and event information using social media, press releases, and community calendars.
  • Supports the delivery of specific outreach efforts to reach specified population groups.
  • Provides creative writing and other technical assistance for a variety of marketing materials.
  • Assists in updating program content as needed on the City's website pages.
  • Coordinates marketing efforts and program advertising through digital media, print and publications, and other media outlets.
  • Coordinates content with departments on a variety of City documents, presentation, publications, events, ceremonies, and other meetings.

  • Assist with development of the City's social media outreach for all departments on an ongoing basis
  • Assist staff with development of a communications and community outreach plan for the fiscal year

  • Basic skills related to Excel/Google sheets and notetaking

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS to serve in AmeriCorps, you must:
  • Be 17 years of age or older(no upperage restriction)
  • Be a U.S. Citizen, U.S.National, or Lawful Permanent Resident
  • Possess a highschool diploma or GED equivalent
  • Pass a National Service Criminal History Check(NSCHC )that includes: anFBI fingerprint check,a National Sex Offender Registry check, and state-specific criminal history checks for both the State of Service and State of Residence.
  • Not hold otherfull-time employment; other obligations should be temporary or part-time in nature and must not interfere with the program schedule and requirements (i.e.upt to 20 hours/week, training dates, etc.).(ACC Program specific requirement)
  • Not be enrolled in a full-time Undergraduate or Professional degree program during the term of service.(ACC Program specific requirement)
  • Agree to maintain full healthcare coverage during the entirety of the term of service,recognizing that LFA provides healthcare coverage to all full-time Members that are not otherwise covered.
